Definition: 

An infix is an affix that is inserted within a root or stem.

Examples:

  • The focus marker -um- is a infix which is added after the first consonant of the root.
    • bili: root ‘buy’
    • -um-: infix ‘AGT’
    • bumili: word ‘bought’
